John Brayne-Baker, CMG (1957), was born on the 13 August 1905. He was educated at Marlborough College, and Worcester College, Oxford. In 1928 he entered the Colonial Administrative Service as a cadet. He was posted to Nigeria where he held the posts of Assistant District Officer (1928), District Officer (1938), Senior District Officer (1948), and Resident (1953).
